The 3D Superegg, known for its unique rolling properties and balancing stability, is a testament to the unification of algebra and geometry. Originating from Lamé’s 19th-century work on Lamé curves, these shapes were further developed by Piet Hein, whose specific parameters for the Superellipse contributed to the aesthetically pleasing design of the Superegg. These products are machined from solid bars of copper, stainless steel, or titanium in various sizes and weights, and are available in different finishes like machine, mirror, and satin. The copper version is prone to oxidation and patina, while the stainless steel and titanium variants are hard and scratch-resistant, with titanium being notably lighter.
