The Modern Cockade Fan, Dian Chunfeng, is a minimalist folding round fan that bridges traditional Chinese fan culture with modern EDC design. Machined from aluminum or stonewashed titanium via CNC precision machining, it folds to 15 cm by 2 cm at approximately 74.5 grams, small enough for a pocket or pouch. A hidden magnetic closure built into the handles clicks the fan shut on its own, and the curved palm contour provides a natural grip. Four fan pivots replace the traditional single pivot, serving as both functional hinges and subtle decorative accents. The fan leaf is printed on heavy-weight matte offset paper and is user-replaceable (two included), while a deep-engraved logo represents uncompromising finishing. With a quick flick of the wrist, the fan unfolds in one fluid motion, opening into the distinctive circular silhouette of a traditional round fan — compact when closed, culturally rooted when open. Designed by a Beijing-based EDC team active since 2008, the Modern Cockade Fan updates a centuries-old form for contemporary carry.
